Simple iPhone Tips that Make a Big Difference

From organizing photos and managing messages to setting up FaceTime and adjusting settings for easier viewing, I teach practical skills that transform daily tech use from frustrating to effortless.

Small changes to how you use your iPhone can make your daily life so much easier. You don’t need to learn everything at once—just a few simple adjustments can help you see better, find what you need faster, and feel more confident using your phone.

Make Text Larger and Easier to Read

If you find yourself squinting at your screen, you can increase the text size across your entire phone. Go to Settings > Display & Brightness > Text Size, then drag the slider to the right. This works in Messages, Mail, and most apps you use daily.

Keep Your Most Important Contacts at Your Fingertips

Instead of scrolling through your contact list, add your favorites. Open the Phone app, tap “Favorites” at the bottom, then tap the + sign to add people you call often. Now they’re always just one tap away.

Use Your Flashlight Without Unlocking Your Phone

When your phone is locked, press and hold the flashlight icon on the bottom left of your screen. No need to unlock or search for an app—instant light whenever you need it.

Turn Photos Into Quick Notes

Saw a recipe in a magazine? Need to remember a phone number? Just take a photo. Your camera is the fastest way to capture information. Later, you can find it in your Photos app and even zoom in to read the details clearly.

Organize Your Photos Into Albums

Create albums for different topics—grandchildren, garden, recipes, whatever matters to you. Open Photos, tap “Albums” at the bottom, then “+” to create a new album. Now you can find specific photos without endless scrolling.

Set Up Emergency Contacts

Press the side button five times quickly to call emergency services and alert your emergency contacts automatically. Set this up in Settings > Emergency SOS, and add your emergency contacts in the Health app.

Adjust Volume for Different Situations

Use the buttons on the side of your phone to adjust ringer volume when you’re not on a call. During a call, those same buttons control how loud you hear the other person. During FaceTime, they control the speaker volume.

You Don’t Have to Figure It Out Alone

These are just a few of the adjustments that can make your iPhone work better for you. If you’d like help with any of these—or if there’s something else you’ve been wanting to learn—I’m here to walk you through it at your own pace.
